Why flood data matters!

Councillors, MP's and individuals have tried talking to Thames Water, yet TW continues to act as if this flooding is a minor issue. However, residents know otherwise. Why is Thames Water so indifferent to the problem?? Well, [they say] they have not received enough complaints or responses to their flood questionnaire to show there's a serious / ongoing problem.

TW's view may be due party to them delivering to inappropriate places (e.g. unflooded roads and upstairs flats), partly because residents dealing with a flood crisis are too busy solving it to think about reporting it and partly because some of us end up feeling so despondent we think 'oh what's the point...?' Well, there IS a point :-) If we report it, data is added to statistics that prove there's a problem; if we keep quiet it isn't. So please help us gather important facts & figures by completing the questionnaire!

Here's a message we received from somebody who's spoken to Thames Water:

'Thames Water
said Maida Vale is a lower priority for drain upgrades than other areas that are worse affected. Apparently Ofwatch only allows them to spend a certain amount of money on it, to stop water bills rising (ridiculous when even in the recession they recorded record profits). I think you're right... if more people would report it and complain, it's more likely that Maida Vale / Maida Hill / Little Venice would be a priority.' See links on on right -------->
